Today the world political processes are based on the relationships and interconnectedness within the international energy community. Together with the growing importance of the energy sector in the world economy the interest of countries for international cooperation in various energy sectors has increased. Recently, many states intend to ensure a stable energy supply and reducing energy consumption, because energy resources are finite. To solve the problem of depletion of resources, world community should take measures to increase production and consumption of energy based on renewables. In this regard, many countries tend to cooperate to improve their performance by using resources and mutual support of each other. Therefore, in this study was defined the preconditions for cooperation between Russia and Italy in the field of alternative energy, the goals that the two countries should pursue to achieve the greatest energy efficiency and develop its energy systems.
