Italy`s Energy Security Issues within the Framework of European Integration

In terms of intensification of the struggle for energy resources countries take more serious actions to ensure its national energy security. Due to scarcity of energy resources Italy has a high degree of dependence on energy imports, so energy security is a priority of Italian foreign policy. The aim of the study is to identify the main trends of Italy's policy to ensure its energy security in the context of European integration. As a result of studying this problem it was concluded that despite the European strategy of energy security Italy is committed to maintain a high role of traditional energy sources and is aimed at preserving close relations with Russia in the energy sphere, this will allow Italy to ensure its energy security more effectively.
