The object of research of this work is periodic "serpentine" type slow-wave structures and the calculation of their dispersion characteristics. The purpose of the research is to demonstrate that the slow-wave structures are suitable for use in the terahertz range. In the process of work, a computer model was built using the software package Ansoft HFSS for 3D modeling of microwave devices, and a mathematical model based on the program of the mathematical environment of MathCAD. As a result of the work, an analysis was made of the dispersion characteristics obtained and the characteristics of the coupling resistance. Using the analysis, it can be concluded that "serpentine" type slow-wave structures can be effectively used in the terahertz range. And also it was found out that the presence of a drift channel in slow-wave structures significantly affects the disperse characteristics of this system. The results obtained in this paper can be useful in modeling and developing Traveling-wave tube used in the terahertz range.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.
