The research includes the results of the study of fund working process in state museums. Fund working is one of the leading activities of museums, including the accounting, storage and study of museum things and collections. The study of this area of the museum sphere has made it possible to identify the main problems of both the regulatory and legal nature, as well as the problems associated with the deficit of stock areas, equipment, qualified personnel, as well as the problems of uneasy relations with religious institutions and descendants of deliverers. In addition, when examining the scientific and stock activities of the Perm regional museum in detail, problems in accounting and storage were identified. Depending on the nature of the problems identified, three groups of recommendations were given to improve the management of the work of state museums, as well as mechanisms for implementing these recommendations.
