A Statistical Study of Investment Attractiveness of Oil Industry in The Russian Federation

The oil industry is the most important branch for the Russian economy, and also one of the oldest and most developed ones. Approximately 44% of the federal budget revenues are generated from oil production and sales. Russia ranks second in the world in terms of oil exports, as well as leading positions in the rating for hydrocarbon reserves. The importance of this industry for the Russian economy, as well as the high degree of development of the oil industry, form an investment interest. In the framework of the analysis of investment attractiveness, the capital structures of the companies of the industry under study were studied in terms of the ratio of assets and liabilities, the profitability and the ratio of own and borrowed funds, and the forecast of stock prices was also constructed. During the analysis, it was found that the industry is now in decline. Despite the fact that the liquidity of the companies considered is at an acceptable level, the profitability ratios show a negative dynamics, as well as their financial stability within the framework of adequate values ​​for only one of the companies. The forecast of quotations showed that the shares of the companies under consideration will not grow in the near future, which also means that investments in the industry are not expedient at the moment.
