In recent years, the rapid growth of the popularity of the Internet motivated many organizations, especially the commercial ones, to create a website in order to be able to attract more clients. Although most of them are quite content with a simple static website for the purposes of advertising, some prefer dynamic websites, or web applications, as they are often referred to. This paper describes the entire process of creation of a web application specifically for a container terminal. Both design and development stages are presented and outlined in detail. For the design stage Sparx Enterprise Architect and ERwin Data Modeler were used – both most respected and well-known tools, suited exactly for the task. As for the development stage, the web-application was constructed on the cutting-edge framework ASP.NET, with the use of C# programming language and Entity Framework. The result is a working web application with a simple and user-friendly interface, featuring personal accounts as a major component. Thus, the container terminal will be able to both give its already existing clients new reasons to use their services and attract new ones by providing the most efficient web application suited exactly for their needs. The paper contains 32 pages, including 13 pictures and 5 information sources.
