Present work will discuss stagings of Oscar Wilde’s Salomé in two theatres – Maly and Kamerny Theatre, in 1917. The director of the first performance was Alexander Tairov and the second was Ivan Platon. This study attempts to compare two stagings on different levels – actor’s play, scenery, costumes, reviews on the stagings. Moreover, it is essential to analyze the deviation from the original text and the director’s approach of Tairov and Platon. Such a detailed description and comparison of both performances was not suggested before.
