Practices of Estrade-Folk Music Playing in the USSR in 1960-1970s

In the research the problem of professionalization and academization of folk music is analyzed. Using content and discourse analysis the author considers two interpretations of folk music authenticity in the USSR in 1960 – 1970s: folklore-improvizational (Pokrovsky ensemble) and estrade (Lyudmila Zykina). The author also pays attention to the question of visual representation of national on the stage by Zykina on the example of video recordings from concerts and studio where she performs Russian folk songs.
