Celebrity as a Cultural Hero of Modernity: the Example of the Russian TV Talk Shows with Famous People

The work belongs to the research field of "Celebrity Studies", which explores the phenomena of celebrity in popular culture. The Modern celebrity culture is changing by means of the media development. Therefore we can talk about the transformation of the star concept and the ways of achieving fame. Stars have become closer to everyday life and ordinary people. The research also considers the problem of celebrity image-making, using the example of several television programs on the Russian television. These images are producing in different ways depending on the mechanisms of representation. Case study of talk shows and the analysis of terms (fame, the status of a star, celebrity image) are useful for answering the question of celebrity as the cultural hero of Modernity.
