Improving Competitiveness of a Logistics Operator (Case Study of DHL International)

This graduation paper is dedicated to drafting of measures for improving competitiveness of an express delivery operator. The topicality of this paper is caused by escalation of competition on the express delivery market, which is a consequence of recent recession in the economy of Russia. This study was carried out for the company DHL International, which represents DHL Express in Russia. In this paper, financial metrics and competitive position of the company were analyzed, and problems of the company were discovered and formulated. Based on means of improving competitiveness which are presented in the literature, measures for improving financial metrics and competitiveness of the company were proposed, which involve expanding own logistics network of the company. The effectiveness of the proposed measures is confirmed by calculations, including proof of effectiveness of proposed investments and increase of ROE using the DuPont model.
