The establishment of Moscow senior high schools as a structural subdivisions of Moscow's universities, which implement educational programs of general education - began relatively recently. This became possible after the adoption of the new Federal law on education in 2012, as well as the start of the Pilot project of the Moscow Government in 2013. In a short time, these structural subdivisions of universities have become a significant phenomenon in the education system of Moscow. Some of structural subdivisions have gone essential changes from 2013 until the current period. The novelty of such organizations, in the absence of empirical researches of this phenomenon, leads to considerable uncertainty of the prospects for its expansion. The research was carried out in a case-study format. It examines the factors of the transformation of the senior high schools. Interviews with stakeholders - the leaders of such structural subdivision, are used as a main tool for identifying changes and its factors. Additional information for research was obtained as a result of working with available sources such as official documents, publications in the media and statistics data. As a result of research was obtained descriptions of the process of organizational development of the four Lyceums. This allowed to assess the role of the external environment, the resource factor, the influence of the management of higher educational institutions in the formation, implementation and transformation of strategic guidelines for the development of senior high schools. Identified trends can be taken into account for making decisions on the establishment of similar structural subdivisions by other universities, and also for correcting the direction of development of existing ones.
