The theme of my visual research is about women who worked in men’s professions in the period from late end of XIX century to the early beginning of XXI century. Therefore, it was decided to find photo, which would show the working women. Moreover, I presented different posters that encouraged women to work, for example, at factories during war. It was important to compare the real working women and the ideal encouraging pictures because they represented slightly different images. I followed in my research the evolution of understanding how necessity of replacing men in the workplaces have become right and free choice of each women. One of important facts that affected the situation was the men’s outflow from the workplaces, thus women should to replace them. It was necessary to show that the image of working woman ceased to be unusual, unfamiliar and became today mundane. It was advised during the work that it is necessary to show not only photos of working women (as a fact) but also to demonstrate the evolution of the working women's picture in culture. In the conclusion, my visual demonstrated research that women always worked alongside men and often replaced them. Moreover, there is the significant change in the perception of woman worker’s image. It’s been a long time before people have begun to perceive the image of working woman (the woman worker who courageously replaces man) as something normal. Today it is common to see woman working in mine, driving a bus or operating a construction crane. It was notable that posters, hand-drawn covers, sketches and art played the great role in the development of working woman’s image. Posters encouraged women to work hard for the benefit of the people and the country. They agitated women to go to the front as soldiers, nurses, marinas, fliers, etc. All pieces of art accompanied the changes in the image of working woman.
