The problem under investigation is the degree of certitude in the plaintiff’s allegations as a predictor for the grant of the plaintiff’s request in Russian civil action. It is possible to distinguish between the theoretical and practical applications of the research. The theoretical application of our research is to disclose the real standards (level of belief), which judges use to decide civil cases and to analyze the results of the reform in the sphere of the damage compensation. The practical application of our research is to identify the most effective ways to reform the evidential law. In order to reach the goal, a large amount of comparative legal research literature has been analyzed, the empirical research group of law students has been organized. The research lays the foundation for developing the effective program of reforming law of evidence in order to objectify the standards of proof in Russian civil law.
