More recently, issues related to burial have been increasingly raised around the world. Scientists came to the conclusion that the classical method of burial - burial in the ground - is the least eco-friendly and very expensive, if we are talking about the costs of energy, area and money. If we talk about other more modern ways, for example in Britain more than 75% of people resort to cremation of their loved ones, in Switzerland - 85%, and in Japan to 99.9%. In Russia, these figures are lower, although in Moscow and St. Petersburg about 50%. In addition, the perception of the space of the cemetery changes. Cemeteries cease to be a closed, frightening territory, but rather becomes a work of architecture, a memorial space, a place where a person who has lost a loved one can go through the stages of the death. The topic of visual research "Burials in the historical context and conceptual solutions" was chosen to study the interrelationship of the aesthetic side of burials and various political and social factors in various countries and epochs in order to identify ways of applying the concepts of the past to contemporary realities.
