International Cooperation of China in the Field of Nuclear Energy

The present work is dedicated to the issues of Chinese international cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Nuclear power is a new phenomenon for China. However in conditions of a complicated ecological situation, shortage of coal resources and a rapidly developing economy, the production of nuclear electricity is perspective for the future economic growth. Due to the fact that the educational base and the technical level of engineers in the field of nuclear energy are not sufficiently developed, China cooperates with other countries in order to attract specialists and exchange technologies. The main international projects on the construction of nuclear power plants, development of nuclear technologies and investment projects were analyzed so as to reveal China’s main partners, determine the Chinese cooperation with other countries, and prospects for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Furthermore, the Chinese strategy for the development of “peaceful atom” was analyzed to identify the future prospects for China as a nuclear state.
