Criminological Characteristic of Crimes against Women Health and Sexual Freedom in the Family

In Russian Federation, despite the worldwide acknowledgement of problems connected to women health and sexual freedom in the family, as a priority area for counteraction, a special legislation doesn’t exist. As a result, the violent behavior against women has a high latency level and is concealed from the law enforcement agencies. In addition, in russian criminal law and criminology there is a tendency of fragmented information, of the absence of a single definition and common features of such group of crimes, despite the connection between family influence as a criminogenic factor and general increase in criminality. This work is devoted to consideration of violence towards a women in family, specifically, the crimes against their health and sexual freedom. In the process of this study there were reviewed general aspects, causes and conditions of this type of criminality, preventive and prophylactic measures against violence towards women in family, also there was undertaken an analysis of the foreign experiences in fighting violence towards women. The work is divided in two parts: “The crimes against women health and sexual freedom of in the family as an object of criminological investigation” and “The determinants of crimes against women health and sexual freedom in the family and preventive activity against them”. In the first chapter there were studied the definition of violence in a family, distinctive characteristics of crimes against women health and sexual freedom in the family, there were examined the historical aspects and also foreign and international legislations. In the second chapter there are given the causes of committing crimes against women health and sexual freedom in the family, and there are examined and offered measures for the according preventive activity.
