Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Design (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

The theme of the graduate work, for preparation to which this visual study was conducted, is related to the development of new mosaic and tile series for the association "Gzhel" and the creation of interior solutions. The main task of the research work was to study the products offered by the leading manufacturers for today. Brands, specializing primarily on mosaic and proven themselves as companies that dictate trends in this area were taken into consideration. Such as: Bisazza, Architeza (Lucido), Rim, Trend, etc. An important aspect is the identification of the latest trends. For this purpose, the primary sources were catalogs of products, which allowed to look at the entire range of the assortment. For completeness of the picture several showrooms were visited. The form of the details of the mosaic was adopted for the feature on which the collections were classified. At the same time, such important factors as material and color were also analyzed in parallel within each form. In order to take into account all the experience in creating a mosaic and make a complete base on which it will be possible to rely on further work, the history of the mosaic was studied. The visual series of this block of research was built according to chronology and correlated with geography. The conclusion to which one can come after the research done is that the mosaic, like any other kind of art, exists and develops inseparably from the general world culture. Today we can talk about a very wide range of combinations and combinations of these three components. New materials not only bring something new and interesting to the aesthetics of space, but also solve new functional problems, thanks to the unique physical properties of each material. New colors and shades also enrich the interior thanks to the appearance of new materials with their color and texture. In addition, new technologies of the processing and cutting make it possible to achieve almost any shape.
