Models and Tools for Promotion of Virtual Museums

Master thesis defines the “virtual museum” term and also distinguishes and introduces concepts of “interenvironmental museums” and “virtual display area” (VDA). The work also introduces key criteria for VDA. The defined criteria are used to analyze 167 Russian museum web-sites claiming to be “virtual museums” (or rather VDA according to the concept introduced in the thesis), an extensive analysis of obtained results is included. The results of the research also permitted introducing a new VDA classification criteria which determines instruments and models of promotion of each type. In the final part of the thesis, VDAs representing each of three types, decribed in classification, were analyzed for promotions instruments and tactics. As a conclusion, instruments and models corresponding to all 3 VDA types, if discovered, were described.
