In the context of implementing «Turn to the East» strategy Russia as never before needs to increase its own influence in the Asia Pacific Region, strengthen its own positions on the region’s markets and expand its interaction with Asia Pacific countries. Nevertheless, due to the existing structural limitations, the implementation of this strategy is extremely difficult. Those benefits that are already used by most participants of integration groupings of the Asia Pacific Region do not apply to the Russian Federation. Therefore, in order to achieve full access to region’s markets Russia will either have to insist on preferential relations or work in a non-competitive environment, as the number of barriers between the Asia Pacific countries themselves are absent. This paper aims to define the status of Russia as a participant of trade relations in the Asia Pacific Region, to identify key structural constraints for Russian companies the region, and also to determine the export directions of the country in which the Russian Federation has the potential to increase its positions in the Asia Pacific Region.
