The paper analyzes the existing mechanisms of international and European law, affecting the topic of separatism. In addition, the experience of the international community and, in particular, of the European Union in the separation and accession of territories is being considered. In addition, the position of the Catalan separatists in relation to the EU is examined, as well as the position of the EU in relation to the Catalan separatists.
