Since the emergence of the terrorist organization the Islamic State (IS) and during its subsequent development, a special propaganda system of diversified media has been enlarging and finally became an unprecedented phenomenon for the groups of the kind. However, the methods of information impact in the framework of terrorist propaganda experienced significant transformation in order to adapt to external factors and reflect internal changes of the organization. Considering the fundamental role of the propaganda aspect for the functioning of terrorist groups, the complex analysis of the specifics and factors of media strategy evolution provided in present research are essential to develop appropriate forms and methods of combating terrorism. Key words: the Islamic State, propaganda, terrorism, media strategy
