In this paper was studied the process of professionalization of teacher's work in the second half of the XIX century and the role of pedagogical organizations in this process . There were analyzed the main types of teachers' associations , their characteristic features, mechanisms of functioning and role in the formation of the pedagogical profession in the Russian Empire.
