When planning and realizing the material progress of society, the ecological traditions of human life, as well as the lives of other beings, were not taken into account. Therefore, before the world community there are problems associated with pollution of the environment. With the growth of environmental problems, which are used in the conditions of the environmental crisis, more and more often they began to distribute demands for the necessity of conducting environmental policy. Today, all economically developed countries are trying to form an effective environmental policy, the Russian Federation is no exception. The main role in ensuring environmental policy is provided by the state, its impact on important socio-economic indicators and "public health". In Russia, environmental policy is regulated at the federal, level and local levels of government, as detailed in the theoretical part of the work. In the master's thesis, a hypothesis has been put forward, suggesting that in the Russian Federation insufficient attention is paid to environmental problems, and measures taken at the legislative level do not have a significant impact. In the dissertation research, it was possible to assess the impact of environmental policy on the environmental indicators of the largest cities of the Russian Federation with the help of the Bayesian approach to statistical estimation. On the basis of this study it was possible to confirm the hypothesis put forward, as well as to develop recommendations for improving the environmental indicators of the largest cities of the Russian Federation.
