Interpretations of the «Red Scare» by American Scholars in the Second Half of the XXth and Early XXIth Centuries

In american historiography "Red Scare" comprises two periods in USA history, for which pervasive fear of world communist conspiracy was a characteristic feature. This was resulted in widespread public reaction and influenced USA history and policy. Based on inputs of american historiography, we analyse Red Scare approaches and interpretation arose in american scientific community from the middle of the twentieth century to the beginning of the twenty-first century, we specify the position of the Red Scare in american conspirological discourse. The thesis was written using such methods as method of typification, systematic method, comparative historical research and historical-genetic method. This enabled to trace succession and changes in Red Scare approaches and interpretation and to develop periodisation of the study of the phenomenon in american scientific community
