The evolution of the France’s Position with Regard to the Economic Integration Development within the European Union(2007-2017)

Since 2007 the position of France in the European Union has gradually weakened. However, the election of a new president in France in 2017 has aroused the issue of France’s economic and political role in the framework of the European Union and the necessity of its reinforcement. This paper aims to analyze France’s contribution to the European integration development and country’s attitudinal shift with respect to the European Union from economic perspective in order to estimate the prospects of the French economic development within the integration group. To achieve this purpose, the research draws upon mostly the historical method so as to study the chronological order of the European integration, the method of analysis, which helped to examine the changing France’s strategy regarding to the European Union and the statistical method, whose application allowed to evaluate major macroeconomic indicators and to confirm the theoretical information.
