There is a strong interconnection between the oil sector and the service sector. Trends in the development of the extractive sector determine the demand for oilfield services, and as a result of the direction of development of service companies. So both mining companies affect the activities of service and service companies largely affect the strategies of mining companies in the development of fields. Companies operating in the oil and gas industry can build their relationships in very different ways. Both current trends in the oil market and institutional factors determine the type of the model of companies’ cooperation. Nowadays there is a decline of traditional, easily recoverable resources around the world. The complexity of the characteristics of deposits due to depletion, waterlogging, their inefficient development, as well as trends to reduce the level of costs necessary for the cost-effective development of complex projects for the development of unconventional or difficult to recover deposits due to the development of modern technologies lead to a revision of the approach of mining companies to the choice of forms of relationships between them and service companies and determining which forms are most effective in asset management, the specificity of which increases, that its potential can be realized only when specific factors are achieved – this is the relevance of this research topic.
