Мария Грекалова: The aim of this visual research is to study canons and standards of beauty in different historical periods. In order to carry out the research there were the following tasks: To study the standards of beauty in the territory of Europe and North America from the end of the 19th century. The events and factors that could influence on the perception of the standards of women’s beauty. What kind of similarities and differences of standards there were during centuries. What kind of beauty is predominate today. While I was making this research, I used west-European visual culture ( some photos, illustrations, art pictures etc.) and the description of women’s beauty by different people of art. From the beginning of the mid-twentieth century popular culture has become the main source of studying the culture. The commission recommended to study deeply the factors, events and phenomenons that influenced on the perception of women’s beauty in different historical periods. It was recommended after the presentation of the visual research. In general all the tasks, which had been set, were fulfilled during the research.
