The Influence of Borrower and Loan Characteristics on the Choice of Tools for Dealing with Non-Performing Loans and their Efficiency: Case of Russian Bank

In terms of present-day Russian economy with growing level of non-performing loans, it is crucial to choose the most efficient means of resolving distressed debts. We aim to discover which parameters of problem case influence the tools for dealing with bad debts and their efficiency using the unique cross-section data about 842 deals of big Russian bank between 2015 and 2017. We found the stable statistically significant influence of loan characteristics, debt-service quality, size of business and borrower’s financial condition on the means of resolving distressed loans chosen by bank and its efficiency.
