Nowadays, there is a process of rapid accumulation of information around the world. The foregoing stipulates not only the need to collect existing information, but also the need for its systematization, digitization, etc., which is carried out, in particular, by creating databases. The market for analysis and processing of large data is one of the most promising markets of the modern economy. The basis for the development of this market is open data. One of the most valuable arrays of information is data on individuals (consumers) - active participants in economic relations. As practice has shown, one of the possible and effective ways of accumulating personal information about individuals is to collect them by creating a certain Internet site for communication, where users themselves leave their data - social networks. The foregoing clearly emphasizes the relevance of the research topic and the need to consolidate the latest achievements of scientific thought and law enforcement practices in the legal regime of databases and the possibility of applying legislation on databases to social networks. The purpose of the study is to analyze the legal regime of the database as an object of copyright and related rights, to study the existing Russian legislation on databases and jurisprudence, to identify problems in legal regulation, and to determine whether there is or can not be an opportunity and reason for protecting the aggregate of user data and social content network as a database.
