The Development of Cellular Network Smart Monitoring Service Using Big Data Techniques, Methods and Tools

Student: Suleikin Aleksandr

Supervisor: Petr Panfilov

Faculty: Graduate School of Business

Educational Programme: Big Data Systems (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2018

The amount of data being generated by cellular network elements is steadily increasing, together with new cellular network users all over the globe. The complexity of the topic is explained by the high volumes of cellular network data, different technologies used such as 2G, 3G, 4G, and now 5G, different components of a telecommunications architecture – control plane, user plane, and management plane, and content of data transmission – data itself, SMS/MMS, voice and video. Mobile providers are facing new challenges such as optimal cellular network data storage and processing, the selection of Big Data Streaming capable Architecture components, selection of the most efficient data tools for streaming and filtering, and finally, finding techniques that would cover real-time monitoring cases and offline data storage. The main goal of research was to develop Cellular network Smart monitoring service using Big Data techniques, methods and tools that handle high volumes of cellular network data received from different network interfaces.
