Developing a Supplier Selection System of Transport Services

A reliable provider of transportation services gives the company a competitive advantage: it reduces transportation costs, ensures the safety of the transported products, and delivers the goods to the consumer in a timely manner. The process of evaluating potential business partners involves the use of special methods and procedures. In this paper, the supplier selection system was created for the fiber-optic cable factory Incab. In the course of development, the criteria for assessing the carrier based on the requirements of the enterprise were determined. Further, as a result of the integrated application of the method of assessment rating and the method of analytical hierarchy process, the most preferred transport companies were selected for cooperation. In conclusion, the economic effect from the implementation of the proposed system for selecting the transport service provider was calculated. It is assumed that the use of the developed concept will lead to a reduction of time costs for choosing a carrier, decrease in transportation costs, and decline in the number of negative incidents in the process of cargo transportation.
