Educational Programme: Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

In this graduate qualification work, the topic of improving the process of cargo transportation is considered. Since the topic is very extensive, and the nature of transportation and the scope of transport are very diverse, the diploma project will use materials related to the activities of the limited liability company "Corporation B". The purpose of the work is to find the optimal conditions for transportation in the organization. The tasks for this work were: 1. Study of the basis of the transport system. 2. Analysis of the transportation system in LLC "Corporation B". 3. Proposal of a solution to improve conditions of transport. The analysis of LLC "Corporation B" helped to identify trends for development and showed opportunities for improving the logistics activities of the company. The main problem, as it turned out, was the downtime of transport. Proceeding from this, measures were proposed to eliminate this problem, namely careful analysis and selection of suppliers; optimization of the warehouse; coordination in the work between machines and points for loading and unloading; carrying out the routing stage of transportation. The main proposal of the author was to improve the company's transportation activities by purchasing its own vehicle fleet through leasing services. But as it turned out during the calculations, for the transportation of goods in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, leasing, taking into account the wages of drivers and fuel costs, will cost more than buying and operating the car independently.
