The Impact of Country’s Infrastructure on the Online Shopping Development

Information and communication technologies continue to influence the societies and economies where they are used. In this article, the influence that different infrastructural factors of the country have on the top 8 biggest internet retailers’ revenue is analyzed. The key variables include Internet penetration, Mobile device usage, broadband subscription, investments in R&D, Indexes that evaluates Human development, Logistic performance, Economic freedom, international trade of goods and services and also some demographic and economic factors. The data are drawn from 12 countries over a six-year period from 2011 to 2016 and are analyzed using correlation and regression. The results show that just mobile penetration and trade of services has the biggest influence. The results also suggest the appropriateness of exploring models of infrastructural factors for internet-retailing volume growth.
