Soundscape: a Framework of Multiethnic Communication in Urban Environment

The research focuses on the concept of urban soundscape. Within the framework of this concept ethnic sound interaction and perception of speech in non-Russian languages is studied . In addition to ethnic speech, ethnic music is also considered as a part if ethnic presence. Emotions of locals caused by such kind of music are also identified and analyzed. As well analyzes contains ways of how city sounds coexist and synchronize with ethnic signals. In the practical part, there are analysis and fixation of the soundscape of the Vasilievsky Island in St. Petersburg within the framework of the soundscape theory. The study clarifies perception of the sound of non-Russian languages by local residents in the research area
