In terms of gender and market transformation working women are forced to balance between two poles: market labor and homemaking building their own household management strategies. The following research focuses on the analysis of household management strategies in the context of modern trends: vibrant development of domestic service sector and technological progress. Apart from household management strategies the author draws attention to working women`s beliefs and perception of the household management. This approach gives a deeper vision of homemaking that appears to be the reflection of personal dispositions, values and choices. A theoretical basis of this study consists of the works of foreign and local scientists in the field of domestic economy and household strategies. An empirical basis of the research comprises 15 semi-formalized in-depth interviews with Muscovites. The study identifies four types of existing household management strategies and highlights the subjective interpretations of household management strategies.
