A Network Approach to Analysis of Conspicuous Consumption
Double degree programme in Economics of the NRU HSE and the University of London
The paper is dedicated to the analysis of conspicuous consumption in the context of Social Network Analysis. The main finding of the research conducted on two faculties (ICEF and the Faculty of Social Sciences) is that conspicuous consumption is a significant factor for intra-group tie formation mainly if the group is heterogenous in the level of income and, correspondingly,in the social class.
