Annotation. Topic: «The Russian Policy of Protection of UNESCO World Heritage Sites». Keywords: cultural policy, cultural heritage, World Heritage List, management, state, state cultural policy strategy, legislation. The thesis includes an introduction, three chapters, conclusions on written chapters and conclusion. The object of the research is the UNESCO policy in the field of the protection of tangible cultural heritage included in the World Heritage List. The subject of the research is the implementation of UNESCO decisions on the protection of monuments in the Russian Federation. The research methodology consists of a comparative analysis of documents (legal norms, normative legal acts) regulating the activities of UNESCO in the field of protection of cultural heritage monuments, and legislative acts of the Russian Federation. Research question of the work: identification of the reasons for the insufficiently successful implementation of the UNESCO decisions on the protection of monuments in the Russian Federation. The main goal of my work is to identify and analyze current trends in the formation of cultural policies in the field of protection of cultural heritage sites within UNESCO. The research work demonstrated the mechanisms of the work of the specialized agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, as well as the application of these mechanisms in the regulatory practice of the Russian Federation and their results. A new vision of the protection and management of cultural heritage sites of world significance is needed, which will go beyond the narrow definition.
