The work is devoted to the consideration of military works of A. I. Kuprin affecting the theme of "another's life" (mainly on the example of the story "Wedding"). I also identify the main features of the poetry of Kuprin's works, where this topic is on one of the Central positions, determine the features of the literary heritage of A. I. Kuprin and its connection with the literary tradition. To accomplish these tasks, the story "Wedding" was analyzed in the context of two other texts Kuprin on the same topic ("Zhidovka", "Gambrinus"). Special attention is paid to the theme of "friends" and "foes" in these works. Moreover, an attempt is made to identify a possible pretext of the "Wedding" - the famous story of F. M. Dostoevsky "Skvernjy anekdote".
