Slavkin\'s Plays in Theatrical and Literary Contexts in 1960-1980.

This particular research represents the first attempt to analyze fully the work of the Soviet writer and playwright V.I. Slavkin (1935- 2014). Slavkin is a unique author of the Soviet epoch : in the 1960s he managed to invent the absurd drama forbidden in the official culture. However, nowadays he is known for his latest plays related to the stream of the drama of the “new wave”. The work is devoted to the analysis of the earliest and latest Slavkin’s drama and the identification of the connection of his works with the Western European traditions of the theater of the absurd and Russian literary canons. Particular attention is paid to the evolution of the art practices of the playwrighting and the implementation of autobiographical details in his plays.
