This article is devoted to the market of prohibited psychoactive substances, the segment of marijuana, public discussion of which is becoming increasingly active in the modern world due to the possibilities and prospects of legalization. Since markets are not only a place to buy and sell goods, but also social interaction, their functioning is possible only if the problems of coordination are solved. Jens Beckert (Beckert, 2009) identifies three main conditions for the existence of capitalist markets: the problem of valuation, the problem of competition and the problem of cooperation. This study is aimed at deepening the economic and sociological understanding of the first problem, by analyzing consumer feedback on the largest market of prohibited psychoactive substances in Russia. As a result of the qualitative content analysis, an understanding about the functioning of mechanisms that allow this illegal market to exist was obtained; revealed how market participants design the quality of purchased goods; How is the problem of trust solved and is there a moral and ethical side to this market?
