At present, there are many "diseases" in society that hamper the economic development of the country as a whole. One of them is the abuse of alcoholic beverages. Today, the increased level of alcohol consumption has a large number of negative consequences for both the social and economic aspects of life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of alcohol as a factor on socio-economic indicators in various regions of Russia, using the example of road traffic accidents and crime. Statistical tools should be used for this analysis. In the empirical part of the study, linear regressions will be constructed to identify the impact of alcohol consumption on changes in crime rates and the number of traffic accidents.
