This paper is focused on the experimental study of honesty on the cross-regional level on the example of Moscow and Volgograd. These cities have been chosen according to the statistics on corruption. The experiments have been conducted in three universities. In both regions people behave in the dishonest manner as they have an incentive to gain a higher profit. Besides, individuals in Moscow tend to cheat more, on average, than ones in Volgograd. One of the most significant variables is gender. The results have shown that males are more prone to dishonesty than women when they decide whether to cheat or not. In the case of unobservable characteristics and the trustworthiness of the opponent, an individual takes more aspects into consideration such as his attitude to the unlawful actions, his reaction towards the dishonest behavior in his address and others. Income has also an impact on decision-making process.
