Contractual Relations in Russian Electrical Energy Industry

The importance of electrical resources in the functioning of the society is very high. At the same time, the impact of the contractual regulation of public relations on the Russian markets of electric energy and power becomes more significant. The paper attempts to conduct a comprehensive study of contractual relations arising in the field of the Russian electric power industry. For this, the author investigated the main theoretical base, so that a description of the existing relations was given and the key classifications of contracts were investigated. In addition, the author has studied and described the system of normative regulation of the relations studied, as well as the main trends of judicial practice. In the main part of the study each of the current contract types in the electricity markets is separately reviewed and analyzed. The author concludes that the system of contractual relations, especially in the wholesale electricity market, lacks transparency and competition among suppliers. At the same time, the author notes positive trends in judicial practice that compensate for the shortcomings of the existing regulation.
