Professionalization of Street Musicians: The Case of Moscow

In recent years, the activity of Moscow street musicians has undergone several important structural changes: the emergence of the «Street Artist» and «Music in the Metro» platforms, which contributed to the partial legalization of this activity. Through various approaches to the sociology of occupations, this paper attempted to determine whether professionalization was present within this activity, professional identity among practitioners, professional communities, and organization strategies that exist in this craft.
