The Influence of Joint Custody on Family Formation in Europe

This paper studies the effect of joint physical custody on the incidence of marriage and divorce in European countries. The panel data consists of 10 states for the period 1980–2017. The results of fixed and random effect models suggest that joint custody significantly increases decreases marriage and increases divorce.
