Master thesis: "Expenditures on R&D and Marketing in Pharmaceutical Companies" Research object: international pharmaceutical companies Research subject: interdependence of R&D and marketing expenditures in the context of influence on sales Methods: econometric modeling; statistic analysis Research purpose: identifying possible interdependence between sales and investments in marketing and R&D Research Tasks: 1. Theoretical analysis of the pharmaceutical industry 2. Literature overview 3. Creating a database from financial reports 4. Formulation and description of an econometric model 5. Model estimation, results analysis Conclusion: econometric model estimation showed that both investing in marketing and R&D have a positive effect on revenue. The research also showed that allocation of money into marketing has a bigger return. However, the variable of R&D was estimated with 10 years lag and the estimation of aggregated R&D research effect stays out of the scope of current work.
