University Science in Corporate Media: Functions and Formats

The present research is about how universities inform the public about their research activities. This problem requires closer examination due to the mediatization of science and education. The main purpose of the investigation is to determine the features of university science popularization in the corporate media of Russian national research universities. In the theoretical part literature on this subject has been analyzed. It allowed us to assess the role of university science activity and the impact of new media on the development and popularization of science, as well as to formulate the characteristics of university online resources as a corporate media. In the empirical part, firstly, the existing formats for media coverage of University science were reviewed. Content analysis and typology were used. Secondly, the case study of the IQ.HSE by Higher School of Economics was conducted. This has resulted in the extensive description of functioning and characteristics of one of the formats. The obtained results are enhancing the existing understanding of science communication. People will be able to use them in practice or in further investigations.
