ABSTRACT This paper is devoted to the study of dividend policy factors in developed countries. Research in this area shows that dividend policy of companies depends on the institutional environment, the financial and economic position of the company and the quality of corporate governance and other factors. In addition, there are differences in the dividend policy of companies in developed and developing countries that are associated with political and social instability, weak institutions and laws, problems with ownership structure and other factors. This study examined the effect Research and Development expenditures, beta ratios and profits on the dividend policy of the S&P 500 companies. A panel sample of observations for 2014–2018 has been formed and the method of regression analysis has been used. It was found that beta coefficient and research and development costs negatively affect dividend payments of these companies and positively affect the level of profit.
