Topic: "The Problem of Overcapacity in China and the Attempts of the Current Leadership to Solve It" The bachelor thesis was done by a student of group number КЭ-43 Semenova M.A. Department of Asian Studies Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs National Research University Higher School of Economics Keywords: economic development of China, overcapacity, strategies to address the problem of excess capacity. The object of the study is the economic development of China. The subject of research is the problem of excess capacity in China’s industrial sectors, government programs and reforms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of the problem of overcapacity in China, its impact on both Chinese and world economy, to estimate government programs and reforms, and to identify possible methods for solving the problem. To reach the aim of the study the following objectives need to be addressed: - to identify the main drivers for overinvestment and overcapacity in heavy manufacturing industries of China - to highlight the implications of the problem on both world and China's economy - to identify possible methods for solving the problem of overcapacity in China. - to capture the results of government programmes Standard methods of scientific historical analysis are employed to accomplish the objectives pursued. The bachelor thesis consists of the introduction, the main part (4 chapters), conclusion and list of references. The volume of the bachelor thesis is 58 sheets. The list of references includes 29 references.
