Acquisition of Citizenship by Virtue of Economical Investments: International Practices and Russian Perspectives

This study is dedicated to such ground for obtaining citizenship as citizenship by investments. The main aim of this paper is to examine the possibility of adoption of the institute of the citizenship by investment in the Russian Federation through analysis of international practice in this sphere. To achieve that, the following objectives should be reached: 1. to analyze the Russian Federation legislation on the citizenship, its acquisition grounds and procedure; 2. to review different ways of obtaining citizenship established in the world, their benefits and drawbacks; 3. to explore current models of acquisition by investment all over the world; 4. to outline the possible scheme of implementation the citizenship by investment programs in the Russian legal system.
